I recently bought a secondhand Aurora manufactured in late 2009. The hard drive had been removed by the seller. He had the original packaging, but not the official Alienware Dell Windows 7 Home x64 Recovery DVD (part number DRGYF), and the Alienware  Resources DVD (part number VYWX2). As a trainspotter I like to restore the PC to the factory image original, but not having these two discs I can't do it. Is there anyone in the UK who can very kindly copy these discs and post them to me please, I will happily pay for the discs and postage.

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 560 that had a graphics card in the PCI express slot, I removed this a few weeks ago as I no longer required it in this machine, however I wanted to increase the SATA capacity of the machine so I bought a PCI express 2 SATA expansion card that will work in a PCI express 16 slot, but when I plug it in to the PCI express 16 slot the PC appears to boot but the display won't work, I'm guessing that the machine still thinks there is a graphics card in this slot, is there a way to 'reset' this slot?  So far I have tried removing the CMOS battery, resetting the BIOS to defaults via the jumper and within BIOS, still no luck :-( the machine works fine without both cards (SATA expansion and graphics), I have also tried the SATA card in another machine that has a PCI express 16 slot and it works fine so I know that new hardware is ok, any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

hi everyone,

i've buyed a laptop from internet, a Dell latitude E6420

Specs:

Intel i5 2520M 3,2Ghz

4GB DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHZ

320GB HDD 7200rpm

I installed a fresh copy off Windows 10 64-bit and did all updates and runs fine.

When i plugged my mouse in a usb port Windows detects it but then it freezes the whole laptop.

it power off and restart.

when i did a dell diagnostic test it says ''HDD long self test unsuccessful''

i retry it, and...again same error..

errorcode is 2000-0142

BUT....

i test this hard drive with crystaldiskinfo no errors! [:O]

but system freezes as well..

Verry strange[:S]

What can i do?

Hey, i would like to upgrade my i3 alpha to an i7 prossesor.

I can't find an T or S series. I want to upgrade to a i7 4790 3.6@4.0 ghz it has a tpd of 84w. Will it works? Will i have downclocking? If i has downclock, which will be the real clock speed?

I used Crucial PC26400-800 2gb & Elpida PC2-6400-666 2gb modules, Vostro 1510, A15 bios

I did the following:

1. Extracted old 1GB RAM from both banks.

2. Inserted new memory to both banks.

3. Turn on computer.

4.  After i rebooted the display was black and Lock leds were blinking. Num Lock fast blinking, Scroll and Caps Lock where solid green.

5. Computer didn't boot up.

6. Tried each new module by itself, tried 1 old module and 1 new module, same result, tried every combination of modules & banks

7. Confirmed with Crucial that the memory module was indeed compatible.  CT2566AC800.M16FM

8. Tried unsuccessfully to contact Dell Tech support to verify the exact parameters for the memory as the Dell Claimed Support of 4GB for this model is in question! [ got the big run around from support ]

9. All Memory works fine in a Dell Inspiron 6400 Laptop

Hey guys, recently I've been having a problem where my Inspiron 531 regularly crashes after about 40 min of use.  Out of nowhere, the screen will freeze, with my only option being to shut down the computer (because nothing else works).  When I restart the computer, I hear two short beeps coming from inside of it, while monitor remains black; the PC does not reboot.  About the 3rd or 4th time this happened, I got a blue screen stating it was a "Kernel Security Check Failure".

I replaced the PC's power supply and added on another stick of RAM sometime last year (if that's any help).  My current operating system is windows 8.

Hello,

I have an XPS 15 9550 equipped with a Dell 1830 wireless card. I have a problem when wifi and bluetooth are both enabled: when I'm connected to a 2.4GHz 803.11n network the bluetooth doesn't work. I use a portable Bose speaker and I cannot stream music to it (e.g. from Google play music or spotify), it continuously scatter. Using internal speakers it works fine, as well as when I'm connected to a 5GHz AC network.

I disabled "bluetooth collaboration" from advanced options of the credit card, because when it was enabled also the wifi connection was unstable if wifi and bluetooth were both enabled.

Dell Support doens't know how to solve it.

Hello!

I have a problem with my Dell Inspiron 7720-6174 and Windows 10 64-bit 1607 14393.576.

After multiple repeated sleep/hibernation cycles my WLAN Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 becomes disabled. Cannot turn it on using Windows panel in bottom right corner. Only restart can help, log off/in is ineffective.

I am trying to install a new Powered 230R that came with Windows Server 2012 R2. After configuration it started a Windows Server Update. After 12h, it seems to be stuck on updating, with message: "Updating your system (6%). Is it normal, otherwise does anybody know the solution?

Just want to know if this has happened with anyone else...

I recently received 2 new XPS 9350s (16gb, 500mb SSD) and installed software on both. As a last step, I went to Dell Support Assist, had it scan the two computers, and installed the recommended 6 driver updates along with the bios update to v1.4.12.

BOTH rebooted to show "No bootable devices found". Lord Almighty!

Have there been ANY reports of something this catastrophic happening to others?

I have DELL XPS 1640:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53Ghz

RAM : 8GB

SSD 500GB

WIN 8.1 64 bit

Bios  A15 version

I want to upgrade CPU into Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX9300 (12M Cache, 2.53 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) As I know this is the best CPU for PM45 chipset

Question: It is possible to put QX9300 in this computer? As I know I need to buy power adapter 120-130w.

 Is there any other issue to do this?

NOTE: I know that it is not new computer, but I'm not planning to buy a new computer, I  just want  to put BEST CPU on this computer

FYI: Alienware 17 R3 - i76820HK - 8GB GTX980M - 16GB RAM - PCIe SSD + HDD

Since I've had this I've noticed that there is an intermittent sound coming from the left side of the machine, and the best way I can describe it is as a cross between a soft click and a liquid drip.  It sometimes happens regularly, say every 5 seconds whilst other times it is silent.

I've done a little research regarding this and someone mentioned it could be something to do with the power efficiency settings on the HDD causing the head to be stored when not required - is this true?

I just want to find out if this is something other people have experience or if it is an anomaly and what could be the cause.

I wanted to upgrade my hard drive and couldn't because the dell windows 10 OEM media DVD wont reinstall.. Why is that?  I had to put the OEM hard drive back in the PC because the dell windows 10 media only is a repair dvd not a full restore to factory DVD like Dell had in the previous operating systems.  I have a Dell E7470 laptop.  Can someone tell me why they include a DVD repair instead of recovery dvd with your computer now a days?

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15” 5000 series about one and a half years ago. Recently the plastic cover inside the laptop, around the keyboard has stated cracking by itself and cracks are running and growing over the surface of the cover. I was wondering if anybody as any solutions or is experiencing the same issue?

Sorry if this is the wrong sub forum, I couldn't find any better and I have an old Dell laptop, so...

I'd like to reflash my BIOS with the latest firmware, however I don't necessarily trust my network, including the certificate chain, for a number of reasons. This becomes a real down-the-rabbit-hole type situation when you really think about it seriously, and for that reason I'd like to order the BIOS update on CD-ROM or similar physical media from Dell. I can't find any way of doing that though.

If that is not possible, ordering a hard copy with cryptographic checksums (such as SHA256) directly from Dell would be an equally good alternative.

Is any of these services available?

I know this is an advanced topic and that this is a community support forum, so I'd just like to help people not waste their valuable time giving irrelevant support because of misunderstandings: This is an actual problem, it does not matter what BIOS version I currently have or if I have any issues with the current firmware, etc. Likewise the Coreboot project and similar are not relevant.

Having boot problems on my XPS 15 9550 I want to repair my Windows 10.

Running Windows setup from an USB stick, I 'm stuck at: "A media driver your computer needs is missing etc".

Probably the driver for my SSD. Where can I find the right Driver?

I honestly don't know  the SSD brand but this is what I found amongst the specs:

 400-AJBS : MOD,SSDR,1TB,NVME,SMSNG,PM951

Someone at Dell told me to download from Download Intel® SSD Data Center Family for NVMe Drivers but that doesn't result in any success; probably because the brand is Samsung and not Intel.

Note: I tried bootrec /fixmbr /fixboot (successful) and /rebuildbcd (finds c:\Windows but then says that resources are not available.)

Hi guys looking for some advice Had my 13r3 now since late December and I have noticed an odd beeping/buzzing noise coming from the inside of the laptop kinda over the Q and W key on the keyboard and its very noticeable in a quiet room.

So this noise happens in conjunction with me moving my usb mouse (but not touchpad) and especially annoying and more prominent when i'm using chrome or steam. Interestingly there is no noise when I unplug the laptop from the charger, so would it be PSU related?

Also the noise is really loud when playing games or gpu bench marking and I can hear it over the fans because its very high pitched. (This happens plugged in or on battery)

Interestingly enabling v-sync causes it to change tone but its still there
