I am trying to install DIA but it says
Error: Image detected as a Factory Installed dell Application Image, or 'FIDA' , and is not supported.
this machine need to be reimaged from scratch with windows media.
I faced the same problem before and I did reinstall of windows 7 without format and now facing the same problem again.
help me out with this.
We have E5470 laptops with 1x 4GB ram with Windows 7 32bit installed.
The laptops are all showing 4GB installed in BIOS, however windows is showing around 2.5GB usable in system properties and occasionally goes lower.
We understand that 32bit wont show the whole 4GB, however 2.5GB is not right. About 60% ram is used at all times by hardware which im guessing is video related.
There is nothing in BIOS to change memory remapping, we have installed the latest chipsets and BIOS and still the issue persists.
We have checked maximum memory settings in boot options and its not turned on so should be fine.
Any ideas?
We have an issue with our PS5000e SAN. It's not a mission-critical device and we are in the process of moving off of it, but we need to get it back online if possible.
This morning the member went completely offline. I can connect via web UI, but it just says member offline. Connecting to CLI indicates the same. All commands in CLI are executing extremely slowly, and occasionally I get warnings like: "Logger daemon is losing messages because offline disks are generating more events than the daemon can handle."
Unit is in a datacenter 500 miles away, so I had remote hands send me pictures of it. One drive shows amber, remaining 15 drives all have green lights, so the failed drive shouldn't have caused it to go down.
show recentevents returns nothing.
On the back of the unit, everything looks fine except for one amber next to a label with a wavy line (possible power issue?). Picture below:
Before I get too much further with taking action I'd like to know what this light means if possible.

Hi, this should be a relatively easy question to answer for those in the know. If I order up a new 8900 desktop with the GTX 970 card, will it have a DVI port on that card? I have a monitor I am fond of and want to continue to use, but it only has DVI.

Dell online updated me to the latest BIOS supposedly..!
1st issue....system goes into sleep mode, but when I go to wake the computer I have to push the start/shutdown button and then the system reboots...setting somewhere I'm not finding? Seems the system is shutting down after a time, but I'm not finding that setting anywhere in the power setting menus?
2nd Issue....been letting Dell online determine what updates I need for drivers/bios and each time I run the check the same two update require issues come up even thou I have downloaded these and rebooted/shut down the system...why is this?
So please provide any hints, ideas, places I can check to correct these two issues, I am not a computer novice so have done a few things already to try and correct these, but so far no luck

So far - totally useless, except for wasting time reading threads that don't fit my problem. The only place I found a New Post was on this forum - on all the others it is no where to be found and the FAQ on adding a post is therefore not much help but does show what is missing. Taking me hours to ask a simple question, I'm very impressed so far.
My friend got a Dell inspiron 15 3000 series with windows 8.1 .It ran fine for 2 years. But now its not working.
The system show dell logo on starting and does not got past it . its just stuck.
BIOS setting( UEFI) can be accessed using F2, boot priority setting key F12 do not work.
Even DELL dell epsa pre-boot system assessment test works fine.
In some cases the problems disappears and the system works . But after restarting , it will get stuck with dell logo.

I have the Dell power companion to use with my xps 15. It's charged, but when I plug it into my laptop it causes some issues including the slowing down of the system, stuttering, distorted sound and affecting wifi reception. I updated the BIOS before use as in the power companion documentation, but the problem persists.
Any ideas?

In an attempt to fix an issue --- that the user interface was randomly opening up on its own --- avast issued an [emergency] update. However, it appears that this update made things significantly worse --- the avast interface no longer recognizes its own services and database [:S] There are now MANY dissatisfied users bombarding the avast forum to complain.
I'm not 100% certain of this... but based on what I've read in the forum --- and just now confirmed on one of my computers --- it appears the buggy update is version 12.2.2276 - build 12.2.3126.2 ; the final digit, 2, distinguishes this update from earlier (good) ones.

I had a problem with my Dell forum account, I couldn't see my profile, nor could I post anything. It turns out my account was "blocked" because I had an inappropriate avatar "Tux sat on the loo reading a newspaper" (I ask you).
What I am very annoyed about is there was NO message or communication from anyone on the forums it just happened, and it's taken me several months to find out what the problems was.
All someone had to do was politely ask and I would have changed the avatar, NO PROBLEM !!

I've been using Dell inspiring N5010 for almost 5 years.
From last week I'm experiencing this vertical and horizontal lines across my LCD.
Usually , laptops boots up normally and works well. After some time, it start showing these lines. If, by chance it recovers from it, it shows a windows message that "Display drivers stopped working, but it has now recovered".
If it doesn't recover it shows a blue screen with error and I have to forcefully shut it down using power button
It happens randomly.
I've tried D+power button...the screens looks ok.
I've tried fn+power button ....it doesn't show any lcd related error. But later while tests were still running, the screen starts showing those lines.
I'm not sure, but it seems to me the cable issue between LCD and motherboard.
Can anyone help me in finding the exact issue?

Laptop is a Dell Insnspiron 17 7000 Series
Updated to windows 10, had some problems after a few months so did a clean install of everything.
I was missing lots of drivers so entered my laptop number and dell showed me all drives from my machine.
after downloading and installing them all the only one that has not been fixed is a PCI Deviice.
PCI Slot 3 (PCI bus 7, device 0, function 0), that is the only information I can see from properties.
any help onb which driver would fix this ??
So in January I got my alienware 15 r2. Been using it a lot but not for gaming. I have been coding on it and enjoy the backlit keyboard and all the power I have from a machine with great response. However, this morning it wont turn on.. I noticed that the green light on the power supply turns off as soon as it's plugged into the machine. After much research it appears the mother board has failed! I can't believe this since the machine hasn't experienced one day of intense use. However upon purchase I installed an m2 ssd drive on the mother board and wondered when sending it back for a repair will I need to remove that drive since it's connected to the mother board? I wouldn't want them to forget to place that drive on new mother board.
I have a Dell e6430 (not ATG) laptop. I may in the need of a motherboard and am searching for possibilities. It seems there are a few variances which may all work but I am not sure of the compatibility.
Does anyone know FOR SURE which of the different motherboards will work in my e6430.

I am considering an upgrade from the i3 4160 to i5 or i7.
Would the upgrade processor fit into an OptiPlex 3020 desktop and what would be best?
Is the upgrade going to provide a marked improvement in performance generally? I watch movies and listen to music, streaming both.
Unfortunately it leaves 3 1/2 inches of the screen black (image is shifted right and even then does not use all the screen.1/2 inch black on that side as well.
I recently lost access to both keyboards that I use with the 7130 - its the battery powered one and the slim one. The tablet sees the keyboard ad the battery but does not recognize any keystrokes or touchpad. This is with the release version of W10 anniversary update. Does anyone have suggestions. I ran the keyboard fix hoping that would work - it didn't. Also ran a driver update scan and nothing needs to be updated. Help!! TIA.
