Hi, this is an issue with Alienware Graphics Amplifier. I have the nvidia GTX 1070 and downloaded the latest nvidia 372.54 drivers. However, there was performance issue and the frame rates for games have dropped. Specifically, Rise of the Tomb Raider running at 1440p has dropped to 55fps on average.
I have since rolled back the drivers to the previous nvidia 368.81 drivers and the frame rates have gone back up to 70. Anyone having the same issue?
recently took over administration of a PS6500E 42 1TB drives, M1000 , PC6224 these units have sat unused for several years. ~5-8 I dont think it was ever used ! Time has been limited to undertake this task, however, I have downloaded and read though lots of documentation as time permits. .
Taking small steps to verify functionality of the hardware was my first priority.
SIMPLE hardware overview:

--> created user accounts for testing on all systems

At this point I need to get the PS6500E online ant tested before this monster grow out of control.
I was able to gain access to the unit via serial connection resetting the grpadmin password and running setup via command line.
I now have access to the GUI and performed some testing to the point of creating and connecting to a new volume via iSCSI to the head node.
--> Network config overview:
--> MGMT == 192.168.1.0/24 ( IPMI / Dell mgmt?) CMC
--> Compute == 192.168.2.0/24 network comm. head-node and the 16 blades
--> PS6500 / R710 iSCSI = = 10.0.50.0/24 network comm. head-node and PS6500E
--> PC6224 == Have not gained access to this unit, yet. Seems like a flat configured swx
--> M1000 2 x SWX modules and 2 x CMC modules connected together and 1 cable to the PC6224
--> KVM interconnection works to all nodes ( never use it though )
What is the best path to get the firmware on all this stuff updated and at the current version. I'm not worried about data loss at this point. Remember we are TESTING!!!

Only versions A04-A16 are avaialble for download; I upgraded to resolve freezing issue but A04 on up remove power functionality I was using; Would like to go back to A03 and try to resolve freezing another way or live with it.
This is not to be confused with the 64Bit A03. Anyone @ Dell reading this can make this happen?

I have two Dell XPS 8700 desktops. They are both about a year old. A few days ago, I installed the Windows 10 Anniversary Update on both of them. That seemed to go OK. I used both pcs for a little while after the update finished. When I shut the first machine down, there was already an update. I chose Update and shut down. The next day I was on the other pc and after I used it for a few hours, suddenly a program wouldn't open. I finally restarted and as I might have expected, there was an update being installed. (I've had that same senario happen other times so I wan't surprised, ie, things quite working normally and then you find Microsoft has pushed out an update that requires a reboot but doesn't tell you.) But then the trouble began. The update took awhile and then the login screen came up, but every time I tried to enter my password, the screen would freeze and it would restart. After about 5 repeats of this, I got a black screen that said Starting Automatic Recovery and then it went to a pale blue screen that said that WRkrn.sys was corrupt or missing and I needed a disk or a system administrator. I couldn't remember if I had created a recovery disk or where I had put it. I ran to the other computer to create one, but when I started it up, the exact same thing happened. I called Microsoft and they wanted me to start them up in Safe mode, but I couldn't. So then they had me create an ISO image. I am sure it was of the latest build. I tried to repair, system restore, etc. but nothing worked. So I finally recovered from a Macrium backup. But now I'm afraid of any Microsoft update.
I looked up this issue on the web and some people said that updating the Intel Rapid storage driver fixed this issue for them. So I am wondering if I should update this driver before Microsoft tries to push this out on me again. But how do I find the right driver for my system. I searched on Dell and I found one that is a 32 bit driver. It says that it also works on 64 bit systems. But is there a 64 bit driver.
How do I find what other drivers are available for my system? Do I need to enter my service tag?
Honestly, I haven't been having any issue with either machine since I bought them and I hate to fix it if it ain't broke.

I bought my AW 17 R3 in April and have played many a hours of my favourite game - Overwatch on it. However I have been plagued with a throttling problem that cripples my fps. I can play the game at 1080p or even 4k very smoothly with my fps constantly staying at the display limit of 70 on both resolutions.
However at some point, - it varies but usually after 10-25 minutes, the fps drops and my cpu throttles to 800mhz when I check hardware monitoring software.
I have been able to somewhat remedy the problem by using Throttlestop to prevent turbo boost from kicking in so that the cpu stays at 2.6 ghz and by disabling BD PROCHOT. While gaming the cpu temps usually go up to the low 80s but haven't really seen them go higher than that. GPU temps are usually lower.
I also removed intel thermal dynamic via device manager.
Could my unit be defective in some way? Perhaps thermal paste wasn't applied properly? I am quite disappointed that I am facing these throttling issues with such a new and premium PC. I also have the most recent bios (released sometime in August). -
I would love to be able to play a few games without having to worry about throttling.

(Aurora R5, Gtx 1070, i7-6700, 64gb ram, 1tb hdd)
I recently purchased a 512Gb SSD from samsung, and I am having a few problems.
When I power on my PC without the SSD installed, my PC loads windows/bios with no problems.
As soon as I install the 950, and power on the PC, it shows the alienware logo, and the blue bar at the bottom of the screen fills up rather quickly. It then stays on this screen, and will not boot windows or Bios.
Any help is appreciated. My end goal is to load win 10 onto the SSD and use the 1tb as just storage.
I have an Optiplex 760, dual core Pentium E5300 processor, 4GB of memory, running Windows 7. It did not come with a dial up modem, but I need one to be able to fax. I bought a DELL 330 CONEXANT RD01-D855-005 INTERNAL MODEM CARD and installed it. The computer cannot find it. I tried downloading the driver and installing it, and it says, This item is not installed, cannot install drivers. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, tried everything I know, and no modem. Any help would be more than appreciated, thank you!!
we had to move a server from one building to another.
when we went to fire this server back up we get the following error.

second error = vlt0204 systemboard failsafe voltage is outside of range. contact support.
on the back of the server both PS lights are green

For use as cache I cannot see a way (no RAID drivers inside) and for OS is too small.

So I downloaded the image from Dells site and put it on a USB and booted from it. My SSD does show up, but it gives me an error when I try to install it on a partition. I forgot the exact error, but it says something about checking the log which I also can't find. I even tried deleting the partition and installing it on the volume it shows and even tried creating a new one. None of it worked.
Basically I took out the old SSD (I think its an M2 SSD) and put in a larger one and just want to put Windows on it again.
I have a Dell Desktop Optiplex 990. According to the spec sheet the system is maxed at 16Gb of ram. I have 8Gigs installed now. If I replace and install two 8gig sticks to 20gigs total, will the motherboard use the additional 4gigs or will they be wasted and unused or what. Running 4 X 3100 i5. Not sure of the motherboard. Any help appreciated.
hey i bought this laptop 1-2 months ago and i have 2 problems
1- when laptop goes low power mode USB inputs stop working. i can't use mouse if i don't recharge it.
2- i can't create tactx macros and keystrokes it doesn't work. actually the only thing hat i can able to do with tactx button is changing the color of them by swaping the profile.

I have a Venue 8 Pro (5000 series) that won't turn on. If I plug it in to charge, the white LED stays lit. If I attempt to power it on, the LED turns amber for a few seconds before going back to white, and nothing else happens.
What are my options here? Is this a bad board or do I just need a new battery?
Is there a list of all CPU's supported by the E6420? I know it's only Sand Bridge chips, but is it all or only a few? Looking at putting an i7 in but need to know what to start shopping for. I know some will need a better power adapter already.
