Here's my story: I purchased a Dell XPS One 27 all-in-one in March 2015. After three months we started noticing that the screen would sometime go blank, and we'd have to turn off the computer using the button and attempt to reboot it. Usually this would not work, but if we left the computer off for a couple of hours, then turned it on, it would often reboot fine. Very inconvenient. In September 2015 I called Dell to have this fixed. They said it was a software problem, not a hardware problem.
Over the course of the next few months, up to June 2016, the problem persisted. Eventually, the one year warrant ran out (in March 2016) and, despite that the same problem persisted, Dell refused to fix it under warranty. Same problem. Never solved. Now they won't fix it under warranty.
So, after arguing with Dell for far too long, I was put through to their "out of warranty" department. I finally decided that I would pay them to fix this...because I was tired of debating with them over it. They said they could sell me an extended warranty to deal with software issues, then they would help me fix the problem. So, I paid them $270 in June 2016 for an extended software warranty. And paid them $25 to ship me a windows re-installation disk. They then walked me through a reinstall of windows. Did not work.
Today, in August 2016, I still have the same problem. I finally took the computer to a local expert who figured out that the problem was a hardware issue...not a software issue at all. So Dell had been wrong the whole time. My computer needs a new screen and digitizer (touch feature). So, I called Dell.
They told me that they don't sell parts for the XPS 27, and that all they could do is sell me a new one. They refused to refund my $270 for the extended software warranty. They won't sell me any parts for my computer. They will do NOTHING.
They told me to have a local computer technician fix it because they can't repair it.
My XPS is 16 months old now. It has not worked properly since my 6th month of ownership, and now Dell is saying (1) they can't fix it, (2) they can't sell me the parts.
DELL STOLE $2,300 FROM ME 16 MONTHS AGO. BUYER BEWARE.
AND WHATEVER YOU DO: AVOID AN ALL-IN-ONE COMPUTER UNLESS YOU PLAN TO FULLY REPLACE IT IF SOMETHING SERIOUS GOES WRONG WITH IT.
