I've had my Dell XPS 12 9Q23 since 2012 and my warranty expired on 2014.  Before the warranty expired, I received an unexpected call asking if my Dell XPS 12 9Q23 was running slow.  I did not notice it at the time, but later after using other laptops, the core i7 @ 1.9 ghz processor running on this was running noticeably slower than other laptops.

I recently installed Windows 10 and I noticed that the processor is stuck at .79 GHz no matter what the CPU utilization is at.  Also, the CPU utilization never goes above 33% no matter what stress test I apply.  My other core i7 Dell laptops will go up to their maximum GHz when the CPU utilization is nearing max.

This has to be a known issue with this model otherwise Dell support wouldn't have called me and specifically asked if the laptop was running slowly.  Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so, how did you remedy it?

So, Netflix announced the ability to download content to your tablets today. 

I am not seeing that on the Venue. Is anyone else? trying to figure out if it is supported.

I am working on my friend's Dell XPS 8300 system with Windows 7 Pro.

The OS is farkled. After 4.5 years of flogging it has developed several problems and struggles to run for very long without hanging or crashing. I suspect some hardware issues as well.

I want to install a Samsung 850 EVO SSD and I want to install the OS on the SSD. I also just installed a very nice new power supply (Corsair RM 650x, a tight fit) and will be trying to install my old Radeon HD 7950 video card too.

My friend has his original disks, including the one marked "Operating System, Win 7 Pro, already installed".

Am I going to be able to install this OS on the SSD without the original hard drive present?

Or does the old HD have to be there so MS recognizes the validity of the OS?

Or does MS recognize the motherboard?

Or is it just a matter of inputting the CoA activation code to activate the new installation of Windows?

The case does have a normal-looking CoA keycode sticker.

Also, does this Del-branded Windows OS disk also install the Dell bloatware? If so, is there an opt-out clicky during installation?

Hello Dell Community,

I recently clean install Win7 for my Dell 15R SE 7520 Laptop and then installed all required driver. But after installing Intel Smart Response Technology driver, the startup is very slow. There is a long black screen between window logo and to the dekstop around 40seconds(usually less than 10s).

Intel SRT on system tray shows it is activated but painful startup and turn off laptop still there.

I also have checked on bios, Intel Smart Response Technology is selected, boot on UEFI.

Please help..

Or is it caused by Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager?

I have two questions about the Inspiron 3847:

1. I recently changed my CPU and now I'm getting higher CPU temperatures. I'm using the Dell CPU cooler. Can the Dell cooler be replaced with an aftermarket cooler?

2. I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU to a Gigabyte Windforce GTX 1060. Would the GTX 1060 fit in the case? The card I'm asking about is 8.8 inches, here's a link to it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125906

Good day everyone,

Experiencing an issue with the Dell M3800 with the Dell D3000 Docking station.

My PC has two graphic cards:
Intel HD Graphics 4600
NVIDIA Quadro  K1100M

Running Windows 10 64 Bit
My docking station is connected to two U2412M 24" Monitors 

When running on the external monitors I suspect I am not running with the Nvidia card despite selecting it as a default.

With the monitors connected (via the docking station) when opening the NVIDIA control panel gets me the message "you are not currently using display attached nvidia gpu"

When I disconnect the docking station the control panel comes up fine and I experience no issues.

All NVIDIA and Intel graphic drivers have been upgraded as has Displaylink, all the latest versions.

Help? Thanks!

I am looking at buying the new 13 XPS kabby lake. I know I will need the 512 SSD but I am trying to establish whether or not the RAM is upgradable. I did a chat with a dell sales person and he claimed I could but I cannot find any place on the site that confirms this. I understand the RAM must be Dell certified but beyond that I don't know. I would like to avoid voiding the warranty.

How do I get 3 monitors working with my computer. My GTX 970 has dvi, hdmi, and two mini display ports. I've tried using display port to hdmi cable and purchased a display port to hdmi adapter instead with no resolution.

I've been trying to access the Touch Screen functions of my Dell S2340Tt. I'm using Windows 10.

GPUs are 2 x GeForce GTX 680.

Seems to me this screen should work as a touchscreen in Windows 10 tablet mode.

I'm running one monitor off the top GPU card using a Display Port cable. Have tried with HDMI but that didn't work either.

Am I wasting my time or is it actually possible?

I would like to upgrade my OEM card (Nvidea GeForce 240 GTS)  to a card that supports higher version Open CL and GL features, for more efficient photo editing with Photoshop CC, and another editing program requiring better specs . No gaming .

How can I tell which cards will be compatible with my system? Running Pentium i7 920, 9GBRam,  Win7 home SP1,

I see Reddit has an entire section documenting these defective R3's causing uneven temps on the cpu. I got mine last week, and when tested 2 of the cores are at 90 under load while the other 2 stay at 70. Apparently its happening a lot, and it looks like the dell outlets first 7 pages are full of AW R3 R2, AW17 returns.  The heatsink is not designed well.

I have a copy of a chat session where the Dell Rep admits that they know the laptops are defective and actually suggests that the customer waits a month or two until the next model comes out, that is ridiculous.

Check your temps for each core guys, just because you can play games doesnt mean you are good. The heatsink doesnt set evenly and doesnt cool off some of the cores, and the thermal paste looks subpar also. Returning mine for a refund. its unacceptable

I just purchased a XPS 8900. It will replace a Studio XPS 435T. Can I take the HD drive out of the 435T and put it in the XPS 8900? I want to keep the files from the 435T HD.

When I use a UHD monitor via display port with  M 17 R3 (also UHD) I get sound but no picture if I open the lid I see the video on the laptop but on the monitor I only get sound. I have it set to duplicate screen and have tried extend screen no luck. Now to clarify this this its only a problem with things downloaded from the Windows Store with the Film and TV app. YouTube videos play fine

Service Request #  939553382, i am not able to find solutions from more than One month, whenever my support team call to Dell customer support they have start Diagnosis process & then left the call, there is no respond by any one after that, it's my mistake i have buy the Dell laptop but in future i will not buy any Dell product.

This is a small usability and security update.

• Enabled Firefox Compatibility mode by default for the useragent string.
  Unfortunately too many websites (and especially the big players who should know better like Google, Apple and Microsoft) still require the "we must pretend to be Firefox if we want this site to work" status quo to be maintained, because people still insist on using useragent sniffing to determine "browser features", or even worse, discriminate against free choice of browser by flat-out refusing service (I'm looking at you, banking industry and cloud services!) when visiting websites just because companies don't want to provide assistance to any but users on the main 3.

Hi guy's

we have a 2 Sonicwalls in 2 locations and are connected with site 2 site VPN, lately I see alots of

IPS Detection Alert: ICMP Destination Unreachable (Port Unreachable), SID: 310, Priority: Low

what I dont understand is, the source of the event is one of our network printer in one of location and the destantion is Always the same workstation in the remote location.

we know for sure that the remote host never access the printer in other site, why should printer try to send ICMP pacakge from port 8610 to the reomte host?

Any idea?
