Hi, I'm looking for the type of RAM and how much RAM the Dell OptiPlex 765 can upgrade to. I've tried to look up the specs, but I can't seem to find an OptiPlex 765, yet my in-laws have one. It only has 2GB of RAM. I believe I read the 755 supports 8GB of DDR2 RAM, so I would think the 765 should support that much as well.
If someone could send me a link of the specs and/or RAM it takes, I'd really appreciate it. I can find posts about the OptiPlex 760 too, but no 765. I've found this regarding the 760 series, which I'd think the 765 fits into, but I'm not certain because I can't find anything about any OptiPlex 765, but I've seen the computer myself and that's what it is. If it's the same, then it should support 8GB of DDR2 RAM as seen from here

ok.. My laptop from Europe has a NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 with 4GB GDDR5 and 1t HDD for around 1200usd and this is the cheapest model
and the US version has a NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5 and 256gb SSD for 1000usd
You kinda figure, when you read and watch reiews on a specific laptop from a specific company, the specs would be the same world wide. I guess not...
What going on with this?! Cheaper price and better specs on the same model just from different countries. I have to pay 1700usd to get the model that has 1060 GPU
I get prices vary from countries because of VATS and taxes, but the specs doesn't lie.
Anybody else feeling this is a bit off?

Hello, on my laptop (Dell, Inspiron 5559, i5-6200 U, 8Gb Ram), when I close the lid and open it again the screen stays black or like many pixels and sometimes performs a kind of flashing image of milliseconds and I can not do anything, also when it turns off after being inactive, so I have to force it to turn it off which I do not like but it is the only way and turn on again to be able to use it. Does anyone know what can cause it and how to solve it?

XPS 15 9560 tab and caps vibrating
Hi All,
Have had my XPS15 now for +/- a month, and i love the machine up till now. Checked everything, and a earlier problem with usb ports seems to have resolved itself and back-light bleeding is ok with only one spot with minimal bleeding. One thing that became apparent though is that my tab and caps lock keys are a little loose. The sound they make is slightly different when subtle touching them. This is in no way a problem with regards to functionality, but it makes that they vibrate when the laptop uses it speakers, especially around the 400 Hz frequency.
Does anyone know a fix for this? or should i contact support for this issue? Its kind of annoying while watching a movie or listening to music, given the premium class of this system. Furthermore, I had to wait over a month (delay) until the laptop arrived and as i need it for work, I cant really miss it for another extended period of time.
Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

cannot get mic from earbud headphones to work
I cannot get the mic on my earbud headphones to work. This is not a hardware issue because they work both on my iphone and my window 7 laptop. However, I cannot use the mic on this desktop which is making it impossible to use stuff like discord and other group call platforms. I notice that the pc has separate jacks for headphone and mic. I have a splitter cable for that. The sound works just fine. Even if I only plug into the mic jack the mic still doesn't work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled realtek audio driver multiple times. I also checked to make sure its set to default and its not muted, its turned to max. If I connect via bluetooth to a bluetooth headphone then sound and mic both works just fine as well. But bluetooth means it could run out of battery. I can only assume its the front mic jack that's the problem if my mic works fine on other devices, sound works fine, and mic connected via bluetooth works fine. Does anyone have any advice on how I could fix this? Keep in mind I'm not super familiar with computers, so something detailed would be great.

Inspiron 11 won't wake up from sleep
We have a Dell Inspiron 11-3147 laptop running Windows 10. For the last few weeks, it does not restart after going to sleep. We managed to get it going a few times by restarting in Safe Mode.
We called Dell support, and the technician suggested we install the A11 BIOS, since we were on the A10 version. We did, and the problem persisted, Restart with Safe Mode did not help anymore. We are able to start it only by doing a System Restore to the oldest Windows 10 restore point available. What is different when the laptop restarts after a system restore rather than from a normal start-up or a restart after going to sleep?
When the laptop is up, it runs without problems, which eliminates both hardware and Windows software as the cause of the problem. Which seems to point to the BIOS. The issue has been reported widely in Dell user forums since version A08, and it looks like we too are victims of Dell being unable to fix it.
We understand our laptop is out of warranty, but it is only two years old, and only Dell software is preventing it from working properly. We believe that Dell owes us a better solution than regressing to the A07 BIOS.
Are there any solutions that don't involve a hard reset or a complete windows re-install? This laptop is now useless. Why doesn't Dell acknowledge the problem?

Turn on laptop with Fingerprint Sensor on XPS 13 9360
I recently got a Dell XPS 13 9360 with a fingerprint reader. It works great, but the laptop needs to be on to work. Under power management for the fingerprint sensor in device manager, I noticed a little check-box labeled "Allow this device to wake up the computer." The box is greyed out, and I can't click it. Is there a workaround or way to make this box clickable?

XPS 9560 USB audio issue
I recently bought the Dell XPS 9560 with Windows 10 Home preinstalled.
Unfortunately I am experiencing an issue while playing music on my USB stereo audio system:
if I pause or stop the playback (aimp3, youtube) for about 30 – 40 seconds, there is a brief cracking noise in the speakers, and then no sound is sent anymore to the USB stereo when I resume the playback, or in Windows if I set it to default stereo system.
My first idea was to set to Disable the USB selective suspend setting, but this was not the cause for the lack of sound.
For the moment the only way to overcome this issue is to disconnect/ reconnect the USB DAC.
My audio setup (Laptop – USB DAC – Amplifier – Speakers) works fine on older laptops with Windows 7, with no sound issues after pausing or stopping media, so I don't know if this issue is caused by a Windows 10 setting, or by Dell XPS 9560 drivers.
How can I have USB audio after I pause or stop media? I have the latest drivers via Dell update software.

Graphic card for R320
Hi guys
I’m looking for a graphic card that will work in R320, nothing special just need HDMI out and on board audio. Already try nvidia geforce GT 710 but when it boot in to windows works fine and that exacly what I need... but most of the times it just crash before windows loads. Front screen give me a errors:
CPU 1 has an internal error (IERR)
CPU 1 machine check error detected
I’m not sure if this is problem with this card that may not be compatible with that server or what. Dell recommended VisionTech Radeon 6350SFF DMS59 1Gb. Problem with this is that they expensive where 512Mb radeon 6350 are cheap as chips. Do you guys think they will work or perhaps other card that anyone try.

Optiplex 9020 mini tower no video on power up
I'm troubleshooting a clients computer that does not get a display on power up. The user was turning the computer off and back on until the video finally displayed.
Steps Taken:
Since the computer was powering on and I did not hear any beep codes and the logs only showed unexpected shutdown (powering on and off). I enabled remote desktop and had the user call me the next time it happened. Sure enough I could remote in the the computer but they had no display. Remote restart typically not resolve it. If I remotely shutdown and the user powers back on it typically did resolve the issue.
This is a dual monitor configuration - 1 DVI (primary) and 1-VGA (secondary) There are no adapters in place. The original on-board was using a display port to DVI adapter.
Windows 7 Pro
This configuration has worked fine for about 3 years. This all began about 2 months ago.
Any ideas or known issues with 9020.

UEFI Security Latitude 3340 A14
When switching a latitude 3340 to UEFI boot mode, it no longer puts astricks (*) next to USB and PXE boot devices in the F12 menu.
I have been able to prevent a security concern by turning off UEFI network stack and USB boot support.
I always liked the way Dell BIOS's had a method of leaving boot options available in the boot menu but prompting for admin passwords. It saves a couple reboots when we have to image computers. Does anyone have a method of restoring this functionality?

Dell touchpad not showing in device manager
Hi,
I am using dell inspiron 15R 5537. I am having problems with my dell touchpad. I am using wireless mouse for a long time and just few days ago my touchpad stopped working. I downloaded the latest driver from dell website the touchpad started working back again. But again next day it just disappeared. And now its not even showing in device manager. I have tried everything to get my touchpad back. I have done diagnost to check the hardware problem but touchpad passed the test. If someone has any solution kindly posy it here.

Dell EqualLogic PS6510X having less than 48 disks
Is it possible to configure a PS6510X with less than 48 disks initially, then grow the RAID 10 over time by adding drive pairs?
If possible, does the RAID 10 expansion happen automatically or is there some place in the JAVA Web Interface or Command Line to initiate the growth?
Also, I've seen some online references to PS6510XV existence, but found no matching documentation on Dell website. Does the "V" indicate that it supports 15K RPM SAS HDs? Or were the online references just in error as to the unit's existence?

Inspiron7000 VPN Issue
No matter what I try, I can't get my Inspiron to connect to my servers VPN. I suspect it to be something to do with fast boot but how do I disable?
I believe it's a NAT issue as it has been with other laptops I've had but the Inspiron seems to have some hardware quirks.
I have changed the registry for NAT traversal but I suspect this is not registering upon reboot because fastboot is still enabled in either win, bios or other.
Any clues?

Equal Logic MEM v1.5.0 on ESX6.5 caused Error 99 on Scan for Updates
Hi, after updating the Equal Logic SANs to 9.1.4 I've had issues installing the MEM 1.5.0 on some HP DL360 host servers (sorry!). Our existing R720s appear to be fine and 1.5.0 installed okay via VMware UM.
Initial installation appears to go okay but then a repeated scan throws an Error 99 associated with the VIBs just installed. Error is shown below.
esxupdate: ERROR: ValueError: Cannot merge VIBs Dell_bootbank_dell-eql-routed-psp_1.5.0-437336, Dell_bootbank_dell-eql-routed-psp_1.5.0-437336 with unequal payloads attributes: ([dell-eql-routed: 48.595 KB], [dell-eql-routed: 42.558 KB])
I am able to uninstall the VIBs, reboot host, scans proceed okay without the Error 99, and correctly identify the missing MEM 1.5.0.
Suspecting the VCSA (6.5) Update Manager I may just dump the repo, database and start again but I thought I'd ask if anyone else was having issues with MEM 1.5.0 before doing so.

Unable to configure raid
I just received a refurbished Dell PowerEdge R710. I have two 1 TB WD hard drives installed. I went into the raid config utility, and am getting this error: "configuration is not allowed error code unknown". I tried moving the HDDs from 0/1 to 2/3 slots. I also unplugged/plugged back in the raid card.

Inspiron 3847, Wireless and Audio stopped working
Since December 30, 2017, both my wireless connection and audio no longer work. The router and modem are fine, other computers connect normally. I have tried several things as shown in this topic I started at the Microsoft Community including uninstalling and reinstalling drivers but still have the same problems. OptiPlex 9020 SFF (2014) - Replacement Case Fan
I have a 2014 OptiPlex 9020 SFF, and the case fan (at the bottom front of the case) has started making a rattling sound like its bearings are going.
I'm trying to identify the appropriate replacement part, but have not been able to find the specific Dell alphanumeric part number, nor an appropriate equivalent replacement part.
Would anyone be able to help me out with:
- The Dell part number for the case fan, for an OptiPlex 9020 SFF?
- Recommendation for a replacement? e.g. some sites list the Foxconn PVA080F12H
- Does this fan use a 4-pin or 5-pin connector?

Dell Precision 390 16gb DDR2 ECC memory upgrade
Hello there, i have 2 dell precision 390's that i would like to upgrade their RAM. I recently upgraded the CPU's to a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz and i was wondering if i could do the same with my RAM. Now to my belief i think the chipset in the dell optiplex 755 is the same in the 390 and it could handle 16gb ddr2 Non-ECC. I found a set of 4x4gb DDR2 400MHz on Amazon.ca and i was wondering if the 390 is able to step the speed down to 400MHz or whatever. I also found a set of 2x8gb DDR2 667MHz ECC. Now my last option was this, a set of 2x4gb DDR2 800MHz Non-ECC (i would buy two of these to make 16gb). Which one of these configurations will work on the Dell precision 390?

I'm experience an extremely frustrating experience with Dell technical/customer support. I purchased a XPS 13 a few months ago. It didn't function properly from the start. A tech came out in person to my house and was unable to fix the issue. The customer support has been poor. I've called the technical department 9 times and spent 10 hours dealing with an inefficient outsourced technical support team. They repeat the same steps every time I call in due to improper note taking.
Their extremely unreliable calling back at scheduled times. It happened again today with the ARG department. She called me, I explained the issue (for the 10th time), she said she would call back at 6:00. She didn't call, no email no nothing. I left the gym early to rush home out of respect for appointment times.

How can we resolve this? PLEASE have a Tech 3 call me back tomorrow, I'm available at all times! Whatever it takes to put this experience behind me.

Inspiron 3721 17R battery plugged in not charging
I have an inspiron 3721 17R , bought it from a friend. It runs windows 7. It has new dell adapter and an used dell battery (with dell name on it)
The BIOS shows 90W for the adapter so it seems recognized. However,
a/ When boot, the screen says battery not recognized, and will not be charged. I have to press F1 to continue

The horror story of Dell Support
I purchased two almost identical Dell XPS laptop, one 15" and one 13", for the purpose of back up each other. If one computer is down, the other is still running. The 15" runs fine, the 13" with the same hardware set up is full of problems. The 13" wireless keep drop in and out of the wifi while the 15" has no problem at the same location. The 13" keep have this notification "dell update ready to install". After the install, the computer is crashed 5 times with blue screens. Both computers are 3 months old, and I asked Dell to send a replacement while they could repair the 13". I keep sending them the pictures of the crash blue screen. But they refuse to send me a replacement. Dell insists they will send a technician to my place for the repair. That means I cannot work for that day: I travel and visit client as my job. I have worked on it for 4 hours. How many hours do I need to work to fix the *** computer?
I will keep everyone posted of this. And every time when the computer crash, I am going to make a call and ask for replacement. Lets see how many times I should try to get any answer.
THe above was an old post. the following is what happened next 2 months:
October 27th. called Dell about the wifi signal dropping problem,, spent 4 hours with Dell Technician, trying to update firmware. end up cause more problem. Had to turn angry and demand an escallation of the case.
October 30th , a on site repair ticket generated.
October on site repair performed. The technician visited me said: the problem is Dell used the cheap "killer" wifi chip, he replaced the Intel wifi chip, the signal dropping problem is gone.
November 12th, computer started to multiple case of blue screen crash.
November 13th, bluescreen crash, I started to take picture of the crash, for evidence in case for future legal action.
November 20 bluescreen crash
November 20 reported bluescreen to Dell, demand to have the computer replaced/repair/return.
November 21-December 18 bluescreen crash daily
December 17th initiated a "depot repair"
still crash daily
December 19th, crash and cannot boot the computer for 5 hours.
still crash daily
Jan 4, repaired by Houston center. come back the computer cannot boot at all. System demand Bitlocker recovery Key, which I have no idea I even have one. I suspect Dell mixed up the harddrive when they replace the motherboard.
On the phone with Dell for 6 hours, been kicked back and forth between different department of Dell, hardware, software, customer support; been kicked between Dell and Microsoft, they blem each other. Customer support said it is hardware problem, hardware guy says they cannot do anything ask me to contact Microsoft, Microsoft insist it is not their product. And every time I was kicked to the next guy, on hold listen to music average 20 minutes. Spent 8 hours on my phone today.
One trick I learned: when call Microsoft, if you state you are "home user", you will be told to go on line and "good bye" no matter what key you push. I failed to get to a real person for 6 times. Only way to talk to a real person is say this very loud to the computer voice :"what the *** do you not understand", the phone would click to a real person.
What a shame.

Can’t Switch Fn Keys Back to Multimedia Keys
I have been using Dell Inspiron 15 5567 i7 since August of 2017. On January 3, 2017 I restarted my laptop for Windows updates. However, when I began to use the laptop after the restart it became apparent that the multimedia keys (volume, brightness, play/pause, etc.) weren’t working. It appears that during the restart, the top row of keys somehow changed from primarily acting as multimedia keys to primarily acting as function keys. This change is unwanted and quite inconvenient for me.
I’ve spent a fair amount of time searching through options and settings in Windows Control Panel and Windows Settings and haven’t found anything related to the function of the multimedia/Fn keys. I’ve gone to the BIOS settings three times and not only is there nothing related to the multimedia/Fn keys, but my BIOS doesn’t seem to have the same configuration and options as the online examples. I have accessed BIOS both by pressing shift while selecting restart and by pressing F2 when the Dell screen appears when restarting. Finally, the Fn-lock key (Fn+Esc) does not seem to have any function at all.
I feel that I’ve exhausted all of the obvious options and all of the options I can easily find online. I would greatly appreciate any help in figuring out how I can switch the Fn keys back to performing as multimedia keys. Have I looked over something? Am I not properly accessing BIOS settings? Please help.

Non existent customer care
Over the last year and a half I’ve had issue after issue dealing with my dell Inspiron 15 laptop from my charger vibrating leaking fluid too my hard drive disconnecting requiring it to be “replaced” only for them to hold onto to my laptop for 4 weeks and receive it the day after my warranty expired only to have the same style of problems 2 weeks later and I’ve spent well over 20 hours dealing with your customer service and technical support team I’ve been called a idiot for believing that I would pay for some parts and then 10 minutes later after escalating the situation it turned out it was fedexs problem it seems like your computers are held together with tape and glue and was a was of my time and money dealing with this joke of a company

Latitude 7389 - installation of 2nd SDD
Hallo,
I have the following question regarding the Latitude 7389. E.G. on the German Dell Website it is possible to order the laptop with a second m2-PCIe SSD. The Bios provides the option to activate/deactivate 2 different ssds as well. Because of several reasons I ordered the laptop with one SSD and bought an additional SSD elsewhere.
Unfortunately, I am not able to install the second SSD. There is no connection on the mainboard where the second ssd could be connected? The owner's manual does not give any advice, too?
Any ideas/help?

Additionally, the Bios has the option to activate/deactivate different SSDs as well. Because of several reasons I ordered the Latitude 7389 with one SSD and bought the second SSD M2. PCIe at a different store.
Unfortunately, I am not able to install the 2nd SSD. There is no connector on the motherbard to connect the SSD. The owner's manual does not give any advice, too.
Any ideas/help?
