I have been all over trying to find the solution to this. (Once out of warranty Dell is a brick wall as far as helping its customers with anything.)
Many have mentioned this common problem but I have yet to find a real solution.
When attempting to self extract a downloaded driver, I get the error message:
"This self extracting zip file is part of a multidisk zip file. Please insert the last disk of the set."
The extraction folder is created but is empty.
Some have said that it is corrupted or a problem occurred during the download. I believe that this myth has been more than debunked (several retries by myself and others and the fact that it is common and occurs with more than one driver).
Others claim that it is solved by extracting on another computer and then bringing the files over (this, too, has proven ineffective, for me anyway).
Has anyone come up with a real solution; perhaps after actually speaking with Dell tech support prior to getting the cold shoulder from them? Is it buried in the Dell Knowledge Base somewhere?
Can one safely bypass Dell and download the drivers directly from the vendors without regretting it?
