Inspiron N5110 battery life with Windows 7

This computer came with Windows 7 Home Premium installed that I replaced with Windows 7 Ultimate. The original partition was formatted to remove all semblances of Home Premium. Windows resides alone in the OS partition. All applications and data files are installed in separate partitions. The computer was purchased with an extended life battery (90Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery) and when the computer was new I obtained upward of 6 hours of service. After installing Windows 7 Ultimate the maximum service cycle life reported by the battery icon is around 2-1/2 hours immediately after a 100% charge. As far as I can tell there has been no significant change in power settings to cause this drastic reduction. I would appreciate comments on what to check to identify the change in performance. What other computer specifications would be helpful to suggest why this change would occur during reinstallation of windows? Is there any software/driver that is necessary to obtain the enhanced service life of the battery?

I will appreciate any and all assistance.
