Hi, I've just purchased a new Dell Vostro 3460, there is no installation disc in the package.
I've installed Windows 8 Pro x64 RTM, acquired via Microsoft Dreamspark program, installed Validity Sensor 2.2.0.0 driver, downloaded from the official Dell's Support site, according to my Service Tag.
The problem is that I can't find the way to activate fingerprint authorization mechanism, I suppose I have to install some external, third-part software, after some googling I've found DigitalPersona Personal mention, but according to the official site this software is no longer available.
So, my question is how can I use fingerprint reader on my new Vostro 3460 on Windows 8 Pro x64?
Why Dell doesn't provide any further information about this subject. Fingerprint device class is still new enough for the end-user and most of home and SOHO-users are not so familiar with this technology, also, Windows doesn't supply any built-in solution for fingerprint authorization.
Please, tell me, how to solve my issue.
I'll be grateful if Dell will publish some article in knowledge base regarding to this issue.
Previously I had an excellent experience with my previous Dell Inspiron laptop and I hope this misunderstanding with fingerprint will be solved ASAP, especially, that I'm not a unique user with such kind of issue.
Thanks.
