ok.. 5 hours on the phone with dell support.
new laptop - out of the box - the right shift key does not work as a shift key. it thinks it is a control key.
Dell support only wants to 1) replace parts or reimage the machine to factory default.
There has got to be something in between. spent 2 days configuring this machine before I noticed the problem. Reimaging is so not in the cards.
replaced the keyboard. no joy.
5 techs, 3 more hours on the phone and countless remote sessions.. still no fix.
There has got to be a driver problem or something.. now they want to replace the keyboard (again) and the motherboard.. on a 2 week old laptop??
Yes the country setting is correct (usa) and the keyboard is set to usa English. 7 techs have confirmed this.
is it possible that a windows update overwrote some custom dell setting/driver?
There has go to be some actual troubleshooting other than just reimaging the machine.
Any ideas?
