Folks
I need some advice please. I purchased an i7-2760QM Latitude E6520 8GB RAM around August. Since then I had nothing but issues both HW and SW.
At point of sale the sales advisor informed me that this had a touch screen and only until I went through everything again before placing the order he then changed his mind and told me it wasn't - very disappointed. I was short on time and could no spend more time trawling the pages specifying another machine. I simply wanted to purchase the best machine in my price range at that time (which was nearly £2000) and was assured this was it.
Placed Order for laptop in August on Basis that this was the best option and model and no further iterations were due. The next day after ordering it was replaced by a newer version. Really very very upset. Seems the sales advisor simply wanted a sale to settle and not to look after his customer.
1st Laptop replaced due to a variety of issues including hard-drive issues, performance, finger printer reader failure, This computer was SLOWER than my 4 yr old Dual Core 2GB Ram Sony Vaio. The start up time was approx 1 min 45 secs which is ridiculous considering the specification of the machine. I conducted a side by side test of opening the same word document in my Sony Vaio (which is a much lesser specification) and my new Dell took nearly 3 times longer to open the same file. The finger print reader did not work properly either. If it did not read the print correctly instead of prompting you to rescan it takes me to another screen asking for a username to be entered. This Laptop was then replaced.
New laptop arrives. Outlook which was originally ordered was not installed so i had to wait another couple for days for that to arrive before i could do any work.
New laptop starts exhibiting very strange and troublesome issues
- I am told OS is corrupt so I have to reinstall the OS
- I am told the HDD is failing so I have to have an engineer replace the HDD.
- I am told the Motherboard and cooling system are faulty - another engineer call out.
- I am told the engineer didn't install the appropriate drivers
- I have to wait 4 hours for the drivers all to be remotely installed.
- Graphics drivers faulty and need reinstalling
- Still my computer still exhibits "hanging" when using basic functions such as typing.
Dell support install all the drivers and help me get back on the road. Alex at Dell was a rock and supported me thoroughly through the recent problem.
But now the SD Card reader has failed. No - its not the card i have tried different ones none of which work.
I am really fed up now. Please could someone offer some guidance.
Thanks
