I have an Inspirion 1525 with a Dell 1635 network adapter. Within the last couple of days, the computer hangs a long time when booting. I looked at the running services during boot and found that it is hanging at EapHost....."netservices". Once it does boot, the network adapter has not started. If I open the Network/Sharing Center and do a Troubleshoot, it starts the adapter and I can access the internet. This has never been a problem until suddenly a couple of days ago. I have not made any changed to the computer during that time frame.
I have checked the Dell site for possible solutions, but did not find anything really helpful. I used the Dell diagnostic option for the full system, and it locked up my computer. I rebooted and then tried the diagnostic option for the network and it came back that it found an error....but no help as to what to do or how to fix....nothing (no help at all).
I looked to see if there was an updated network adapter driver and found a driver for the 1635 network adapter (but not sure if it is more current than what I already have). I did open the network adapter and tried to do the driver update option. It came back that the driver is current.
On the chance the my current adapter may have some kind of problem, I went ahead and downloaded the 1635 driver from Dell (the driver appears to be for the 1635 adapter and several other adapters). I followed the download instruction and unzipped the file. The Dell website indicated that I should follow the instructions in the window that opens after unzipping. However, no window opens and nothing happens or gets installed. I can open the directory where the driver is unzipped, but not sure what to click on to start the installation, or that I should even try to install it now.
Any help or suggestions.
