Hi, I need to upgrade all hard disks in a Poweredge 2900 with raid controller Perc 6i, replacing them with bigger disks (running out of space). I have two volumes, one for data and one for operating system. I need to replace only disks involved in data volume. They are currently in raid 5 mode. I need to know if with this controller it is possibile to do the following:
remove one disk, insert a new one and wait for raid rebuild
.... (do the same for all disks in the data volume)
After the last disk is swapped, the volume should be rebuilt on larger hard disks, but there should be some unallocated space because disks are bigger then before.
Is it possible to extend the volume on the unallocated space, in order to complete and give sense to the disk upgrade?
(sorry for my poor english, thank you)
