monitoring with IPMI and basic management

Hi, in our place we own several Dell rack servers (at the moment we are using one poweredge 2850, one R510 and two R520), all running Xen Server 6.1 and without drac management boards. We recently moved all those servers to another place, same building but far from our office. As such, we started needing some monitoring solution other than a simple visual checkout of the leds and lcd displays. I activated IPMI over ethernet in all of our servers and tried OpenManage Essentials, though I was pretty disappointed by the output. In the end OpenManage Essentials sees the servers, but requires a whole machine of its own with windows server, microsoft mssql and OpenManage Essentials itself just to print a line saying that the machine is online and ok.
I had a better outcome using third party IPMI polling tools which at least give me some informations like temperatures, fans speed and so on. What I need to know is: is there a way to poll for the hard disks status? No one of the tools I tried seem to do it, and honestly I'm not even sure that our RAID cards allow it (H310 on the newest 2 servers). Is there alternatively some module to load on xen server giving the same output?
