Latitude D810 graphics card crashing.

Hello Dell community.

I bought a surplus Latitude D810 laptop and really like it.
Its worked well for about a year and then recently it started to give me a battery warning.

The light flashes yellow twice then green and suggests replacing the internal battery.
(I'm getting to the graphics card)

So, as suggested from some Dell recall statements (though my battery wasn't one on the list) I tried to use the laptop with JUST the A/C adapter plugged in.

I took out the battery.

Now my machine will work for maybe 5 minutes before the screen goes all glitchy and an alert comes up that says the graphics card as stopped working then recovered. Shortly after it goes blue screen.

So my question is this: will getting a new battery solve this issue? or is my graphics card now in need or replacement?

My only other thought could be over-heating, as this model does tend to get very very warm.
