I want to connect an external digital audio controller to use with my digital piano and recording software. I tried a DAC with a USB connection but had problems so someone suggested FireWire was the best alternative.
I read posts here covering the Firewire PCIe cards and saw this post www.newegg.com/.../Product.aspx
suggesting this cardSome say that this card does not work with Windows 7 64bit. I understand that I need a card that has the TI XIO2213 chipset but Dell does not have any FireWire 800 pcie, only FireWire 400.
I searched and found the SIIG 3-Port FireWire 800 PCIe card NN-E38012-S3 and it does support the TI XIO2213 chipset http://www.siig.com/it-products/firewire/firewire-800/pcie/firewire-800-3-port-pcie.html
Will this SIIG card work with my XPS 8500 and my PCIe connection on the mobo?
Would I be better off installing a FireWire on another desktop and dedicate that to the audio recording? It is a Dimension 9200 E6600 2.4GHz 4GB DDR2 SDRAM @ 533 MHZ, SATA II HD, Win XP Sp3
