windows media player 11 , 2nd internal hardrive dirty volume problem

Hi can any one help , I have recently been having a problem with a 2nd hardrive that I installed 2 years ago . I bought and installed it to keep all my lossless music files , video and photos on and until recently has been working well .

Over the last months or so when using windows media player I noticed the music was either stalling or pausing and sometimes making some odd sounds .

I noticed on the start up on the pc that it said it is checking drive G as the volume is dirty and it runs through a 3 stage program and then goes to the start up screen and the pc starts as normal .  Once this has happened the music files play ok but give it a day or two and they no longer play properly as I guess the volume is dirty again .   I  have run at extensive chkdsk through the G drive that took two days but it made no difference whatsoever , I have also run a diagnostic on start up and it says that the G hardrive is running perfectly , as did the downloaded hitachi hsgt drive fitness test , in fact the only diagnostic test it failed was the Dell one that said it failed the Linear Read Test .

I am pretty sure that the G drive dirty volume is the problem , but I have no idea how to fix it , I have spent hours trying to cure it and I won't be beaten but I need some help from one of you pc guys who know what you are  talking about , please help its driving me mad !!
