I wanted to try out control vault. I went to this page
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/Product/latitude-e6400
I grabbed the various chipset drivers and all things control vault.
I'm not exactly sure which order I did things in but I believe after the chipset drivers I first installed "Dell ControlVault Driver" and then "Dell ControlVault, v.22.7.022.0A, A23" and then in either that or "Dell ControlVault Firmware" I used the fwupgrdtool.exe from the GUI and just for instance selected the SBI update and pointed it at the file named something like SBIC0FF.otp? I think And then I used the ushupgrade.exe. It said something about needing to quit two apps, so I quit them. Then I ran it again, and this time it said the anti-hammer protection could be stopping an upgrade and that I should reboot. But when I rebooted, it wouldn't boot anymore.
Now I no longer get a dell splash screen at start up. I get a black screen. :(
But it's still doing *something*. The num lock, caps lock, and scroll lock keys all light up, then the num lock blinks 21 times before going solid with the rest of them permanently. I'm hoping this 21 blinks is some sort of error code message?
Is it going to be possible to boot from a CD/USB key and try and flash control vault back to functionality? (It's weird because I wouldn't think this component could block a boot even if broken?)
Help appreciate.
