I've running my good old Vostro 410 with a newly installed ASUS GTX660-DC2-2GD5 for quite some times .. up until yesterday, the motherboard of Vostro 410 gone dead!
Oh well, I think, it's time to get a shiny new machine which can last another 4+ year for me (and I can finally benefit from the USB 3.0 support), so I've went back to Dell site and look for info. Eventually, I've pick up couple candidate which won't blow away my wallet but still good enough for my daily activity - programming and gaming. What I'm looking for at the moment is Vostro 470 (yeah, I'm loving Vostro series), or OptiPlex 7010 / 9010Mini Tower.
However, there's one serious problem just bugging me -- I would like to continue using my Graphics Card since I just purchase that one few months ago: ASUS GTX660-DC2-2GD5. I don't really want to invest another Graphics Card in a foreseeable future ( consider that my previous card is NV 9600GT purchased at the same time of the original Vostro 410 ).
To be honest, this GTX-660 Card is a bit of pain to install on my old Vostro 410 ( the length from back-end panel to the edge of fan chassis is around 256mm, or in the other word, around 10.1" ), I have to move my 3rd Hard Drive to somewhere else in order to have enough space to fit it in, but it works. However, since I have to get a new machine with my old graphics card, my question is -- Could my old card ( ASUS GTX660-DC2-2GD5, Length inside of PC Chassis: 10.1" or 256mm ) able to fit in those newly machines ? It's hard to judge from those picture I found from the Google search, that's why I came back here and would like to heard the opinions.
Thanks for long read!
Please Note: I know I have to replace the pre-installed PSU with a more powerful one myself. Actually I did install a Corsair 430W PSU on my old Vostro 410 so it shouldn't be a problem as I assume all those mini towers using standard ATX PSU, I guess.
