Hi,

I have a Dell Xps 8100 for just over two years now, I started the computer up this morning from which it powered up as normal, I was called away from which I left it for about an hour unattended. I returned to find the computer in sleep mode and unresponsive, after a period of time I did a hard reset, I switched the computer back on, it made 4 beeping noises and executed a shut down. I tried once more and it did the same thing. The monitor and accessories were unresponsive during this time as well. At this point I decided to check and see if it was a dust build up from which there was very little. I removed the memory and reinstalled it after my brother suggest it. The computer responded to this and booted up to the windows recovery window suggesting it was a hardware problem giving the option to start up normal or in windows recovery mode, I selected recovery mode, it loaded to the small windows logo with the green loading bar, the screen went blank and the computer just executed a shutdown.

I decided to run the computer through the BIOS modem, it loaded with no problems or shutdowns and passed all the first line of tests, after this the computer when into the extended checks mode, I did a extended memory check it passed. It is currently running an extended hardware which is on going.

Spec:

STUDIO XPS 8100

I7-870,2.93,XPS DT

8192MB (4X2GB) 1333MHZ DDR3 DUA

1.5TB(2X750GB) SERIAL ATA R

1GB ATI RADEON HD5770 GRAPHIC

Looking for any help at all, or some insight as to what might be the problem. Thanks

Regards

Ciaran
