Hardware issue never fixed by support and laptop is now out of warranty

Since it seems one cannot email Dell support after their product has slipped out of warranty, I'll just post my grievances here and tell you why I will likely refuse to buy Dell again.

Four years ago I bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 as my first personal computer. Less than a year into my ownership of the product, I began experiencing problems with the left hinge. It would stick, break the plastic casing around it, and then make the laptop incapable of closing, remaining open. or being mobile or functional.

This problem reoccurred four or five times. On each occasion, a technician would be sent out and, instead of replacing the faulty hinge in its entirety, would replace the plastic around the hinge, screw it back together, and wait for the eventual call eight months later when the bad hinge would break through again. Then, he would proceed to fix the symptoms instead of the illness again and again.

Now, my product is out of warranty and, since there is apparently no warranty on the substandard work of Dell Support, I will now have to pay $200 out of pocket to fix my laptop since I am working on a 45-page thesis and cannot be without a laptop at this time. Needless to say, I am not a satisfied customer.
