I have an Inspiron N4010 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
I am trying to connect my laptop to an external display (Dell Ultrasharp 1704) via VGA.
For some reason, the monitor keeps turning on and off when connected to the laptop, and I see no video at all.
My laptop LCD is fully functional.
I have the latest Intel Display Driver.
In this, I set the optimum value for both the laptop LCD (1366 x 768 @ 60 Hz), and for the monitor (1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hz).
Still nothing.
What could be going wrong? How do I resolve this problem?

inspiron 530 mini tower graphics upgrade questions
Hi,this is my first post here. So be kind to me, okay.
Anyway, I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card from the integrated Intel POS graphics in my Inspiron 530 (regular mini tower). I plan on upgrading the processor from the Celeron 2.2 Single-Core to a C2D E8400 OR E8500 (depends on pricing at Amazon) within the next month or so. What would be the best graphics card to go with either of the CPUS?
I have compiled a list HERE of possible choices. My budget is $100 to $130, though I would like to certainly go lower if possible.
I already have a 650W PSU ready to go, so now worries about power requirements. Current Specs are below.
Intel Celeron 450 @ 2.2 GHz (soon to C2D E8400 or E8500 @3.0 and 3.16GHZ respectfully)
2 GB RAM*, 250GB HD (OS) & 500GB HD (Storage)
650W XFX PSU
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit (going to 64-bit to take advantage of RAM upgrade)
*plan on upgrading RAM to 4GB
Also forgot to mention, I plan on gaming, running Dragon Age: Origins and other more modern games. Anything will be a blessing over the integrated graphics. Thanks.

Dell XPS 8500 Power On Delay
Bought a Dell XPS 8500 (Windows 8) a couple of weeks ago and was just curious to know if it's normal for the machine to delay for 10 seconds or so before starting up, once the power button has been pushed?
ie. Push the power button - nothing happens for 10 seconds, then it suddenly springs into life.
The first few times I used the machine I wasn't sure what was going on. Now I know to be patient. Is there a reason for the delay?

I want to inform you that last month I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 Intel N5050 <removed private information> laptop with the i5 processor From india, but now I am in Costa Rica. After a month I have a problem with its display. It is blinking and the picture quality is worse. Then I went to your Service Center in San Jose (Costa RICA) .But they told me that they didn't know how to solve that problem. Because this model is not available yet in Costa Rica. But I want that you repair it or replace it, because I have warranty of 1 year. And I am a University (ULACIT University) student here it s mandatory for me. So please take action as soon as possible. I am waiting for your reply.

Overcharged for product, now i can't get through to customer service
I was overcharged for a product and given a refund reference number. I was told to call Dell1 800 624 9897 x2169555, Fantastic. I was told not to call until the product arrived at my door. I have been trying this number and extension for 3 days. I never can get through. I'm stuck on hold for 2 hours at a time and end up so frustrated with this <removed profanity> that I hang up or my cell phone battery dies. I have wasted 8 hours of my life trying to get someone on the phone to give my reference number to so I can get my refund. It's IMPOSSIBLE. It was easy to take my money, wasn't it?

Latitude 6400. What do blue function keys do? What are device status lights?
I just got a re-furbished Latitude 6400. (Windows 7, 32-bit). Just about NO paper came with it. I'd like to find out what the blue labeled function keys do. For example (when I hold down the blue Fn key) the one with the little moon on it puts the machine to sleep.
And similarly, I'd like to find out what all the lights at the top of the keyboard mean. For example, the one with the little cylinder means main-hard-disc activity.
I've looked on the Dell web site, and can't find a document describing this. Can anyone help?

I would like to know if there would be a new windows 8 64bit driver for Dell Latitude E6420 that will be release aside from the current drivers download page?
I install windows 8 and there are two device that windows 8 haven't installed.. actually it will be 3 including the dell touchpad.

Where can i get the driver for all of them? Can you point where to get the Windows 8 Pro 64bit driver for my other device not detected by ? Or When will the latest driver will be updated?
I notice that if i don't filter the driver download to specific service tag, i can get a lot of driver. But i am just worried that it will do more damage or incompatibility issues. But i need a VIDEO DRIVER for PHOTOSHOP so i just use the one without service tag filter.
Can you give more information regarding the driver not filter to my SERVICE TAG, which one i can safely download and use?

i have been through the entire troubleshooting process. i have replaced ink cartridges, including the black one. i have uninstalled and re-installed drivers and updated firmware. i have done all alignment/printhead cleaning options. the problem persists.

Not that anyone at Dell will read my sob story, which is one of thousands, but I bought the 14z on Black Friday as a Christmas present for my fiance because it was small enough for him to take to school and runs Windows 7. I received your confirmation, and even a later email telling me my 14z order was delayed. Today I received an email telling me that you suddenly just realized you oversold it (which you and I both know is complete BS), so you decided to give me a BIG HEAVY laptop with Windows 8 which is EXACTLY WHAT WE DON'T WANT. Now it's too late for me to get him a laptop elsewhere. So I guess I'll give him a big box of nothing with a note "courtesy of Dell's Bait and Switch Scam" for Christmas and watch him struggle through paramedic school with the 7 year old laptop we were trying to replace.
SO since I keep trying to call and cancel this crock, and I'm put on hold for hours at a time PLEASE CANCEL ORDER 241305693 - I work as a 911 operator and since I work during your working hours, I have to use that time to try to call you and NO ONE WILL PICK UP and after an hour plus, I have to hang up and answer 911 calls. After royally screwing me over the least you can do is let me move on with my life!

How many harddrives can be installed into an Alienware M18x R2?
Just purchase an Alienware M18x R2, I want it to hold three harddrives but Ithink it is coming with only two(2) harddrive configuration. Can it be changed to hold three(3) drives. I purchased it on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. I purchased one solid state drive with the machine.

I have a well-used Inspiron 8600. Suddenly, when I start up, I get a message saying that it is looking for a file called SupportCenter.msi on a removable drive or disk. Can anyone suggest where I might find this file? I have all my original installation disks, but it does not seem to be on any of them.

Inspiron N7720 slow when unplugged
Just purchased the N7720 and upgraded the OS to Windows 8. Have installed all the recommended drivers from DELL. Use the latest NVidia driver instead of the DELL supplied one though. I can play games smoothly when the power cord is plugged in. However, when the N7720 is in battery mode, the frame rate drops to an unplayable level. The power plan is currently set to balanced. The following settings were tried to increase the frame rate in battery mode but in vain.
1. Selected high performance power plan and set the minimum processor state in processor power management to 100%.
2. Set the power management mode to "Prefer maximum perfomance" in the NVidia control panel.
3. Disabled the Speedstep in BIOS.
In noticed that the power plan did affect the performance of games when switch from balanced to power saver. The frame rate drops when power saver mode is selected even when the laptop is plugged. Would like to know if there is any way to configure the N7720 so that it can maintain the frame rate when it is unplugged. I know it will decrease the battery life but just want N7720 to have the same performance when unplugged. Thanks.

Dell Backup and Recovery Manager 1.3 Interface Language
I am running Dell Backup and Recovery Manager 1.3 on a Latitude with MS Windows 7 Pro 64bit Russian language version.
I cannot change the Dell Backup and Recovery Manager 1.3 language on the interface when it is running. No options are available for this. I tried reinstalling the application but the installation gives no choice in language for the installation and automatically Anyone have any ideas how I can get an english language version running on a Russian language Windows version?

can't restore or get to safe mode with networking
My Windows 7 based system has given me the blue screen of death after it says it is configuring windows and not to shut down the computer. I can get to safe mode only, but it says there isn't a restore point. If I try to run safe mode with networking I get the blue screen of death. Antivirus won't load in safe mode. I don't want to have to completely reinstall Windows but that seems like the only option.
