i just bought a new Inspiron 15R SE with 1 TB 5400 rpm drive and a 32 GB mSATA3 SSD cache drive as well.
My question is what should I do in order to install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS without compromizing the Windows 8 installation? I will not have a second try as Windows 8 installation dvd are absolutely not available at the moment. I was thinking about resizing the 1 TB drive using gparted (launched from the Ubuntu Live CD) and then install Ubuntu into the new partition. Apparently this will result into an issue with the raid configuration. Other users suggesed to disable the Intel SRT option from BIOS and disable the acceleration hardware option from the Intel SRT menu in Windows 8.. then delete the raid metadata using a terminal in Ubuntu Live (usind dmraid). Did anybody have installed Ubuntu with a 15R SE coming out with Windows 8 before? Im actually pretty confused.
