I was just lucky to get my new 17RSE 7720 laptop and spend an evening installing basic software and trying to make windows 8 bareable.
After restarting the machine, Windows was no longer starting, only a blue screen appears complaining about a missing file winload.efi or sometimes same blue screen with a hex code error. Looks like a corrupted boot sector or HD.
Next I tried to boot up the machine from usb stick, choosing legacy boot and setting usb media as first boot option. But the usb stick is never loaded, instead the bios complains no operating system found as if there is no usb media connected. Usb medias can be seen in bios but they will not load the OS.
I tried several usb sticks and all four usb ports. Dell diagonistics software does not find any hw problems from machine. I did not had time to update bios before this problem occured. Should I try to burn windows image to dvd instead, is it normal that usb drive is not booting up?
Or should I just ship the product back to Dell? I would love to get a working machine asap since Im abroad and I need to skype with my family.
