I am using a Dell Dimension E521. Running windows vista.
About 6 months ago, my brother was using the computer and possibly downloaded a file containing a virus. The computer froze, he restarted and once the computer loaded to the desktop screen, he couldn't use the mouse or the keyboard. At that time I left the computer alone because I had another one.
Recently I turned the computer on, it gave me a message saying that the system battery is low. So, I put in a new one. Now when I press the power botton, a black screen comes up saying "NO BOOT DEVICE DETECTED, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS F1 TO CONTINUE OR PRESS F2 TO SETUP MENU."
So I tried pressing F12 for boot device Menu, selecting 'Bootable Hard Drive', then selecting my hard drive. Which starts up windows vista. And my keyboard and mouse still don't work.
I have pictures on the hard drive so i don't believe formatting is an option. Is there any way to fix this. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
(I am able to use my keyboard in the setup and boot menu. Also, I have tried going into safe mode, and the keyboard and mouse dont work in safe mode.
