I just had my SAN installed 2 weeks ago by an outside company...so I am very new to all of this. My terminology might not be great or accurate. I have been trying hard to install some software to help me with snapshots or just in general to help make life easier. The company suggested VSM 3.5 and I tried to install it yesterday. I think the last step is failing, but I can't find where the error log is. I get following message when I try to do option #3 from the VSM console to Configure VMware vSphere Storage APIs for Storage Awareness (VASA):
VMWare VCenter registration with VASA Provider failed (see setup.sh-1359553205.log
There are a whole lot of things I still don't know so maybe I shouldn't be installing this at all. I believe we have a PS6100 and all the latest patches and updates. I've gotten overviews of connecting to the SAN and the vSphere client and we have 8 servers up and running. But, I still don't have much in the way of snapshots and a snapshot backup strategy going yet. Any thoughts or suggestions will be great.
I would like to figure out how to find the error log and read the message though if nothing else.
Thanks,
Ryan (very new)
